Forthcoming malaria awareness initiatives throughout 2008

The malaria awareness campaign is now in its fourth year and is designed to encourage travellers visiting malarious countries to be aware of the dangers of contracting the disease and to take pre-travel health advice. The disease affects 2,000 UK travellers each year and results in nine deaths. The campaign is supported by celebrities such as Simon Reeve, Rageh Omaar, Bear Grylls and John Craven all of whom have first hand experience of malaria.

This year, Malaria Awareness Week takes place from 12 - 16 May 2008.
