Situation:
Sarah took precautions for the part of her trip that included malarious destinations, but was sick after taking some of her antimalarial tablets. She wasn't worried however and continued her course of antimalarials. She rarely got bitten and so also didn't bother using insect repellent.

Outcome:
Nine months after returning to the UK, Sarah experienced flu-like symptoms and was diagnosed with malaria two weeks later. Sarah was in hospital for several days and took two months to recover.
