Name:
John Craven

Age:
66

Occupation:
Television presenter and former news anchor

Although John has not contracted malaria, he has plenty of close experience with the disease. John’s father had contracted malaria as a prisoner of war during World War II in the Far East. The lack of medication given to the prisoners allowed for the disease to affect his father, and consequently his family, for long after he had returned. John had seen the horrors of his father in unbearable pain due to the disease that he contracted long before. John vowed to protect himself from the disease that his father could not. He advises everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to take necessary precautions to help prevent contracting the disease. He also urges anyone who comes back from a malarial region with any symptoms to seek medical advice as soon as possible.
